Released on June 1, 2020, by JYP Entertainment and Republic Records for a 9th extended play, a song from a popular South Korea girl group, Twice, entitled “Sweet Summer Day” will be the next song we will discuss. “Sweet Summer Day” was set to be the 7th and final track for Twice’s 9th EP, More & More. Background of “Sweet Summer Day”
JYP Entertainment first confirmed and announced Twice’s comeback with the 9th extended play called More & More on April 20 after being reported by many media outlets. Then, following the news, Twice held an online press conference titled “TWICE: Seize the Light” for their YouTube original series where the leader of the group, Jihyo, announced that they will have a comeback on June 1, 2020. The EP consists of 7 songs with “Sweet Summer Day” set as the 7th and final track. Alongside the release of this EP and the comeback, Mina also made a comeback with the group after she took a break from group activities for some time due to mental health issues. With Mina’s comeback, the group was made complete again as a nine-member group. And, this is also the first time Twice and Republic Records worked together in releasing an EP. Through JYP Entertainment’s official Twitter account, on May 18, the full tracklist for the EP was revealed. Story of “Sweet Summer Day”
“Sweet Summer Day” from Twice is included in the 9th extended play released by JYP Entertainment and Republic Records on June 1, 2020, and was written by two members of Twice, Jeongyeon and Chaeyoung. Drew Ryan Scott, Gabe Lopez, and Sean Michael Alexander were the ones who did the music, and the one who did the arrangement was Gabe Lopez. As the title says, “Sweet Summer Day,” the lyrics of this song describe one’s mood and feelings of joy when summer has come. The lyrics ask us to enjoy every little thing that can be enjoyed at that time and forget all the problems we had. There is nothing to worry about because summer means it’s time to have fun and relax.
